She showed up in my hunter education class alone, unknown, and very unexpected.
Her name was Valentina. She sat in the front row, finished all her homework, and was ready to learn. As our class progressed, she became more confident in participating and realized that she not only belonged, but also that she was prepared for her hunter education certification written and proficiency exams. She made perfect scores on her tests and was eligible to go on a guided javelina hunt on a large private ranch in south-central New Mexico.
